Keeping kids of HIV-infected parents in school.
Your gift can help raise women and their families out of poverty.
HIV infected and affected people need not only the spoken love of Christ, but the personal and practical love of Christ. Children of HIV-infected parents may or may not be infected themselves, but are highly vulnerable to exploitation and abuse. To help these kids stay in school, OM has partnered with AIDSLink in Nepal to offer assistance with educational expenses.
One of these kids is the 8-year-old daughter of a local taxi driver. The young girl was kicked out of school because of her HIV status. The AIDSLink team helped get her into a new school where the teachers have been very good to her. The entire family suffers health issues, and the father has lost work because of his own HIV status. So the help he gets with his daughter’s school fees is the only way she can stay in school. Otherwise, she would be at great risk for child labor or trafficking. The family has been attending an HIV support group run by AIDSLink. Through the love and care they have experienced there, they have started to follow Christ. This is just one of the families touched by AIDSLink’s student assistance program.
Currently, the program would allow 16 children to be able to complete their primary school education, regardless of their parents' health. Your $125 gift helps enable one of these at-risk kids to escape the trap of poverty and exploitation.
The pictures on this page do not indicate the HIV status of those shown, but are representative of the children involved in the at-risk school program.
